Fixing Microsoft Fax Viewer

Often, after installing Apple QuickTime Player, you may find the ability to view multi-page faxes received as TIFF files may be lost. In many cases removing the offending Apple product does not correctly restore the functionality of the original Microsoft Picture and Fax Viewer. This article describes how to achieve this.

Supported Releases

Tested on Windows XP up to and including Service Pack 3.

Configuration

Ensure you log into an account with Administrative rights and download the following registry file:

Double-click the downloaded .reg file and click Yes to confirm you wish to add the settings to your registry. You should then receive a message indicating the information has been successfully imported.

Test opening a .tif Fax and ensure that the Microsoft Picture and Fax Viewer is launched.
